Con Te Partiro April 28, 2006

This song was sung at Melissa's wedding, and I still cry when I hear it. It is the most beautiful song I have discovered as of late, my gratitude going to the Bride and Groom who chose a musical piece that is not only profound and well written, but a song that fills your soul. I recommend that this be listened to with no ordinary sound device, so if you have to, borrow someone's better speakers or headphones. As I look out my window, I see the light from the sunset cast its beauty onto the trees, the wind pulling on the leaves and moving them to the rhythm of God's musical. The darkened sky, from the clouds above, creates the background of the picture God has allowed me to see. I am supposed to be doing homework, and instead I am pouring out my feelings in a tear, which seems so humorous to me. How can such a height of emotion be only let out in one small tear? Oh how God's beauty flows through my heart. I will post the lyrics to the song, and I will give both the English and Italian version. But really, you should listen to the song. If I could, I would go to the concert Andrea Bocelli is holding this June, but alas I will be doing much better things with my time. *sigh. Back to work.

Here are the lyrics: Enjoy.

Quando sono solo
sogno all'orizzonte
e mancan le parole
si lo so che non c'e luce
in una stanza quando manca il sole
se non ci sei tu con me
Su le finestre
mostra a tutti il mio cuore
che hai acceso
chiudi dentro me
la luce che
hai incontrato per strada

Con te partiro
paesi che non ho mai
veduto e vissuto con te
adesso si li vivro
Con te partiro
su navei per mari
che io lo so
no no non esistono piu
con te io li vivro

Quando sei lontana
sogno all'orizzonte
e mancan le parole
e io si lo so
che sei con me con me
tu mia luna tu sei qui con me
mio sole tu sei qui con me
con me con me con me

Con te partiro
paesi che non ho mai
veduto e vissuto con te
adesso si li vivro
Con te partiro
che io lo so
no no non esistono piu
con te io li rivivro
Con te partiro
su navi per mari
che io lo so
no no non esistono piu
con te io li rivivro
Con te partiro
lo con te

I'LL GO WITH YOU (Con te Partiro-English Translation)
(E. Sartori – L.Quarantotto)

When I'm alone
I dream on the horizon
And words fail
Yes, I know there is no light
In a room where the sun is absent
If you are not with me
At the windows
Show everone my heart
Which you set alight
Enclose within me
The light you
Encountered on the street

I'll go with you
To countries I newer
Saw and shared with you
Now, yes, I shall experience them
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them

When you are far away
I dream on the horizon
And words fail
And yes, I know
That you are with me
You, my moon, are here with me
My sun, you are here with me

I'll go with you
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you
Now, yes, I shall experience them
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them again
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them again
I'll go with you
I with you

Thank you so much for the English version. I have fallin in love with this song and really wanted to know what the words in English were. Its is a song that everyone one should hear at least once. Again Thank you.

god, i love this song. its beautiful. im in love.

3. Maureen - August 30, 2006

Thank you for the words to this song, but when Andrea and Sara sing it together she says time to say goodbye, but no where in the words does it say that. My son is being married on Sat. Sep 2 and we chose this song to dance to. It has been our favorite since it first came out maybe 10 years ago and we just saw Andrea this summer. We are proud Italians and we don’t care that no one else will understand the words they have great meaning to us.

I heard this song for the first time in Las Vegas. It was played at the fountains at the Bellagio. Everytime we went to visit the fountains on our week long trip, we heard this song. It was sung in English ‘Time to say goodbye’. I heard it again shortly after, at an Italian Restaurant in Vernon, NJ, the Italian version. I knew then that I had to find it but I had no idea what the name of the song was. I telephoned the Bellagio Hotel and they have a CD titled ‘Fountains of Bellagio’ (volume III). I received it yesterday and play it with my partner. It’s the italian version and it’s magnificent. It’s best played very, very loud on surround sound or headphones if you have neighbors close by. The italian sung version is magical. She sould be singing about anything, I don’t care. Now I have the words i’m going to learn to sing it in Italian. Thanks.

5. Tia - July 23, 2007

Although I’m Italian, I’d never learned the language. But, when I heard this song for the first time, something about it connected with me and I knew that it spoke the words that my own heart was screaming.
Thanks so much for the translation, you’ve proven my hunch. 🙂

6. Bryan Brown - December 8, 2007

9. Brian - December 11, 2007

Indeed it is a most superb song. Truly a paragon amidst the greatest of all songs. My ipod plays it several times a day. Its great to lay back and listen to. Eye closing music, can feel the passion and soul that went into it. Thanks for the translation

10. Keith - January 23, 2008

We used this as the closing song in our wedding slideshow. Beautiful! http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewshow.html?fl=2845836&alb=120914

To answer your questions there is two versions of this song. The original is “Con te partiro” or I will go with you sung by Andrea Bocelli alone. Apparently Sarah Brightman heard him sing this and asked him to sing a duet with her to honor a dear friends farewell bout in boxing. This version is titled, “Time to say goodbye” which they have since sung all over the world In the second version they do not sing con te partiro they sing (in English) time to say goodbye.
Either way it’s a pretty magnificent song

12. Sojourner - May 25, 2008

I originally heard this on the first episode of Season II of the HBO series The Sopranos and from there periodically in latter episodes. Finding out the name of this phantom Master performer and the title to the piece never left the recesses of my inner to-do-list. Each time it appeared in an episode I would willfully relegate the actors’ dialog to background interference while capturing what I would later learn was Andrea Bocelli’s solo version. I’ve come to love the live in Tuscany duet with Sarah Bightman. It doesn’t get any better than this! How this Cinderella would have loved to have been there in the Tuscany audience donning a gown, looking my prettiest with my Prince’s hand touching mine. She’s an angel; he’s an Adonis. She is quoted as saying her performances with Bocell will always have a special place in her heart. An if to watch the Youtube video of the Tuscany performance so evident is the filial love between the two. She caresses him as I wish I could the husband I lost to death’s enmity fifteen years ago. I’ve said ‘good bye’ many times but it refuses to translate to me heart. I play this song over and over again. My only criticism is that I wish it had been longer.

13. Veronica - June 27, 2008

Another thank you for posting the translation to this amazing song.

14. Stan - August 26, 2008

I have known this song for a very long time now, but I never knew the title. I totally forgot about it.

Then I saw the movie ‘Wanted’. they play it in a scene were no other song would fit this good. I found the title and now I listen to it a few times every day. Reminds me of my Girlfriend living in Norway, hours away from me.

hopefully I can use it on my wedding one day.

Stan, 22 years old

15. james galvin - September 16, 2008

‘con’ does not have the exact same orientation in the romance languages as the English ‘with.’ Its not that he’ll go with her, its that he’s leaving her. The entire meaning of the song is the opposite. sorry everyone. Don’t fire the wedding planner though, its just as appropriate and more for the parents of the newlyweds.

16. Dave Q. - November 24, 2008

Awesome! Thanks for the translation! This song has been driving me crazy in that I didn’t know what he was singing about!

Beautiful song. 😉

17. Nicole - June 25, 2009

Wrong James, it means “with you I will go” not that one is leaving the other.

18. Chris Macdonald - July 7, 2009

I was blessed to work on an Italian cruise line, MSC Crociere, The Opera was my ship. In the spring of 2006, we had two Romanians perform this weekly and they were supreme.

Thank you for sharing the translation. I get chills with each note and my heart smiles and weeps.

19. ahab - July 13, 2009

i’m almost ashamed to say that i first heard this beautiful song only days ago as the introduction for Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 100. i know… an unlikely place for such a work of art to surface… but as a relatively manly man who… hears most of his opera at cage fights, lol… i am absolutely astonished at the beauty of this song. i may propose to my girlfriend if i listen to this thing too long… so i’m gonna cut it short! but awesome and i just had to comment.

20. Darren - July 22, 2009

WAR Akiyama.

Beautiful song.

21. cherlita - October 28, 2009

I’m touched…

22. urska - November 10, 2009

This song is my favourite from ever since i was little girl. I remeber my mum heard it on television and it just spoke to my heart. I cant describe feeling inside me when i listen to it. Its like its cure for my soul, evrytime i listen to it i just close my eyes, i feel how my troubles go away and then i think about andrea who is singing it and tears come up my eyes. I think nobody else would sing this song better than andrea. It feels that with this song he expresses all his pain and trouble, like his soul is crying because he is blind all his life and he is never gonna see audience under him, but i think he can feel it more than anybody else. This song is amazing, cure for soul. Thank you andrea

23. BeTheChange - August 15, 2011

25. JC - April 19, 2012

I’m singing this song for my senior recital and have been trying to find a good translation for my program notes. Where did you get this translation?
